Fathers Day

Housing Authorities Plan Father’s Day Activities

On the Saturday of Fathers’ Day Weekend, June 18, PHAs nationwide will host special events for fathers and their children, in collaboration with local partners. This Fathers’ Day 2011 initiative was inspired by a program that the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) launched last summer and has continued monthly. According to HUD, the events have two purposes: to strengthen the bonds between fathers and their children, and to make education, health care, and employment resources available to the fathers that may lead to economic self-sufficiency.
