Albany Police are investigating a series of burglaries in North Albany over the past two months. Residents have reported 6 burglaries since March 21, 2010.
The majority of the burglaries are occurring during the daytime into early evening when the residents are not home. The suspects are prying open doors or breaking rear windows in most instances to gain entry into the homes.
Once inside they are stealing jewelry, laptop computers and electronic equipment such as flat screen TV’s, cameras and camcorders.
No one has been caught at this point but detectives are working on several leads. It is believed that the majority of the burglaries are a result of the same suspect or suspects.
Residents are reminded to make sure their houses are secured when leaving them unattended and if they have a alarm system activate it anytime they are leaving the house. Residents should call police immediately if they see any suspicious activity in their neighborhood.
Community Service Officers are available to conduct home security surveys for residents as well. Anyone wanting a security survey should contact their respective police station in their neighborhood. The South Station contact number is 462-8049. The Center Station contact number is 458-5660.
