A Successful 2009 National Night Out

HELLO ALL:

AHA wanted to let you know how much we truly enjoyed this year’s National Night Out event. It was moving, inspiring and a lot of fun.  We were so proud of everyone at all the sites. There was great community spirit in Arbor Hill, North Albany and the South-end! The team did an amazing job again this year. THANK YOU!

It was great to have all the Neighborhood Association members involved with this event! We were extremely impressed with all the collaborations and community partnerships. The kids, the families, the vendors, the CBO’s and the community as a whole enjoyed it all!

Again, congratulations and THANK YOU.

Albany Housing Authority Community Choir

Linda Mallory Mitchell founded the Albany Housing Authority Choir in May 1999 as envisioned by Steven T. Longo, AHA’s Executive Director. With the help of other musicians Marie Coleman, Jameen Oliver, and Linda’s husband Bert Mitchell, the choir sings songs of joy and hope. It began with three members and has expanded to over thirty talented individuals. The choir is open to anyone who wishes to volunteer their time and talent to spread the word of love and hope throughout the Capital District. Members include young, elderly and in between of all races, creeds, religions and ages.

The Albany Housing Authority Community Choir has performed at the Palace Theater, City Hall, CSEA, police, and college and community functions. They are always ready to perform in support of the community. The AHACC has awarded scholarships to AHA youth who receive and maintain excellent grades in school. Their goal is to make a difference.
