Albany Housing Authority - Albany, NY

Community Services

The Community Services Department offers general assistance and referral services to all residents of Albany Housing Authority. Services include but are not limited to alcohol and substance abuse programs, Headstart, dispute mediation and other legal services as well as access and referral to the myriad of opportunities offered by a truly exceptional variety of on-site and off-site service agencies, programs and providers. The Community Services staff is also primarily responsible for the overall operation of our multigenerational Everly Cromwell Community Center. Albany is very fortunate to have the breadth and depth of services that are present in the community and our Community Services Department works diligently to avail our resident population of these opportunities, such as:

  • Service Coordinator Program
  • Meals on Wheels
  • City-wide Summer Food Program
  • Family counseling
  • Resident participation funded activities
  • Youth Programs
  • Day Care

A new component of the Department is oversight of the community service requirement mandated by HUD for non-exempt residents of federal sites. The Department will work closely with the Centralized Collection and Re-examination Unit to coordinate compliance and certification.
